SUPPORT THROUGH EVERY CHAPTER
The journey into parenthood can be beautiful, overwhelming, complicated—and sometimes all three at once.
You may love your baby and still miss your old life.
You may be excited about becoming a parent and terrified about what comes next.
You may be supporting a partner who is struggling while quietly realizing that you aren't doing so well either.
At Open Book Counseling, there is room for all of it.
We provide culturally responsive, compassionate mental health care that recognizes pregnancy and postpartum as transitions affecting the whole person and the whole family.
You don't have to pretend everything is perfect here.

Our online therapy sessions provide specialized support through pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, loss, and the transition into parenthood. Whether you're navigating anxiety, identity changes, birth trauma, relationship shifts, or simply adjusting to your new normal, we provide a supportive space for birthing parents and partners to feel heard, understood, and equipped for what comes next.
Who We Support
Pregnancy & Prenatal Mental Health
Pregnancy can bring excitement alongside anxiety, fear, uncertainty, and major identity changes. Therapy provides space to process those emotions while preparing mentally and emotionally for birth and postpartum.
Support may include pregnancy anxiety, prenatal depression, pregnancy after loss, high-risk pregnancy, previous birth trauma, relationship concerns, and emotional preparation for parenthood.

PostPartum Mental Health
Sometimes postpartum doesn't feel the way you thought it would.
We support parents experiencing postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, intrusive thoughts, overwhelm, isolation, difficulty bonding, identity changes, resentment, guilt, and challenges adjusting to life after baby.
You don't have to wait until you're falling apart to ask for help.

Birth Trauma
A healthy baby doesn't erase a traumatic birth.
If your birth experience left you feeling afraid, powerless, angry, disconnected, or unable to stop replaying what happened, there is space to process your experience without being told to simply be grateful.

Infertility & Loss
Infertility, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and pregnancy after loss can bring grief that others don't always understand.
Therapy offers a space where your grief, fear, anger, hope, and uncertainty can exist together without being minimized or rushed.

Fathers & Partners
The transition into parenthood doesn't only affect the person who gave birth.
Fathers and partners may experience depression, anxiety, isolation, relationship changes, fear, pressure, and difficulty adjusting to their new role.
Your mental health matters, too.
You don't have to wait until something is wrong
Perinatal mental health care isn't only for people experiencing a mental health crisis.
Maybe you're preparing for your first baby.
Maybe your last postpartum experience was difficult and you want this time to feel different.
Maybe you're worried about how parenthood will affect your relationship.
Maybe everything is technically "fine," but you want somewhere to process one of the biggest transitions of your life.
That's enough reason to have support.
